Instagram is part of that empire, and recently the company made a change by incorporating Direct Messaging (DMs) into the browser experience.
Though the change may seem small, its significance is not lost on influencers and online marketers who depend on Instagram to stay in touch with business partners worldwide. The update essentially turns Instagram’s DMs into any other online chat program, making communication easier, more convenient, and seamless.
Now that the Instagram messaging upgrade is available in the browser, it’s only a matter of time before meta chat services integrate chat feeds from multiple sources, including Instagram DMs. This will allow users to access all their messages in one place, streamlining communication.
Messaging has been part of the internet experience since the early days of the web. Today’s apps continue to evolve, becoming sleeker and more sophisticated. Given the growth trajectory Zuckerberg mentioned, the reliance on messaging across social media platforms will only increase.
If your company uses Instagram DMs to keep employees connected or to communicate with business partners, this new feature will make life easier. However, note that the functionality is currently in Beta and only available to a small portion of Instagram’s user base. After successful testing, everyone will have access to it.
