New Gmail Attachment Feature Makes Forwarding Easier

New Gmail Feature

Google has a solid reputation for continuously improving its products and services. Recently, they added a new Gmail Attachment Feature that makes email forwarding much easier.

This feature allows users to forward emails as attachments. The recipients can open the attached emails and view them in their original form, including all headers. This is especially useful for Gmail users, as well as for security professionals, network admins, and server admins who need to examine email headers.

How the New Gmail Attachment Feature Works

There are two simple ways to use this feature. First, create a new email and drag and drop the emails you want to forward into the message. Second, select the emails, click on the hamburger menu at the top of your inbox, and select “Forward as attachment.”

Regardless of the method you choose, the emails are sent as EML files, which are supported by most email clients. Additionally, there’s no limit to the number of emails you can send as attachments.

On the receiving end, clicking on an EML message will open it in a new window.

Availability

Currently, the New Gmail Attachment Feature is being rolled out, so it is not universally available yet. You’ll know you have access when you see “Forward as attachment” in the three-dot More menu.

Why This Feature Matters

While you may not need this feature for personal use, it’s a game-changer for many admins. This update will make email forwarding easier and more efficient, especially for those who handle email security. Kudos to Google for this valuable addition.
